Dear Friends,
At the outset, it is my great pleasure in informing you that our 7th edition of International Plastics Exhibition & Conference, PLASTINDIA 2009 has met with a super duper success. The roaring success of this event is even sweeter in the face of several problems faced by us during pre-exhibition period. One of the major issues was global economic meltdown, which everybody feared that PLASTINDIA 2009 would be a dampener in the present circumstances. However, the success of PLASTINDIA 2009 has proved cynics wrong and surprised everybody by attracting more than 1,30,000 business visitors generating business of more than Rs.1,000 crores, which is based on our representative large sample survey conducted during the exhibition. This exhibition has made us really proud with all the previous records being broken. In this connection, I would be more than pleased to share with you some of the features of the mega exhibition.

Decision to go in for Total Online for all the Exhibition Services including Space Booking has been a masterstroke for us. Initially, we faced teething technical problems, but with the hard work and dedication of the Plastindia Foundation’s Staff for 15 months, the Online System really worked well within a very short period of time after its introduction even before formation of the National Executive Council (NEC).

The criterion for selection of Chairman of the National Executive Council kept in mind was that he should be a global manufacturer with acumen for business with down to earth approach. This was accepted after marathon discussions by the Managing Committee of the Plastindia Foundation. The choice of all was Shri Mahendrabhai Patel, Chairman of Mamata Group, Ahmedabad.

The criterion for selection of Chairman to the National Advisory Board was that he should enhance the image and prestige of PLASTINDIA FOUNDATION globally along with the Indian Plastics Industry as a whole. Accordingly, who else but Shri Nikhilbhai Meswani could adorn this position and it was unanimously accepted.
|
|
For making India a global sourcing hub for Plastics, the slogan “Future is Here” was the key mantra and an integral part of the PLASTINDIA 2009 exhibition at promotional functions.
|
|
A truly All-India executive team with office bearers viz, Vice President Shri Amar Seth from Kolkata, Hon. Treasurer Shri Hasmukh Patel, Ahmedabad and NEC Chairman Shri Mahendra Patel from Ahmedabad, who is a globe-trotter, worked in unison for the success of this show.

100% target oriented & committed administrative office staff in Mumbai worked really well to execute PLASTINDIA 2009 and many of the concurrent events which took place along with the exhibition.
|
|
Marathon marketing efforts to project Indian Plastic Industry worldwide by participating in various important Plastics International exhibitions/ Seminars/ Conferences globally by having India Pavilions, conducting Press Conferences and making Powerpoint presentations at various forums globally and making them aware of Indian Plastics Industry and huge potential of Indian market.

Because of advance planning, the preparations for the exhibition were on schedule and there was no time lost during the past two and half years.
|
|
There were marathon launches of VISITOR PROMOTIONS for PLASTINDIA 2009 across the country. Never before in the history of PLASTINDIA exhibitions, were visitor promotion functions held in 50 cities in every nook and corner of India by the NEC Promotion Committees.
|
|
Though there were many bottlenecks during the course of the preparation they were successfully overcome due to conscientious approach which paid rich dividends thereafter.
|
|
Ultimately the winner is Indian Plastic Industry, which has now arrived in global scenario. After this thumping success of PLASTINDIA 2009, confidence of the industry has shot up considerably. According to German exhibitors, PLASTINDIA 2009 show has certainly made a quantum jump from its previous editions. This itself, shows the tremendous response it has generated globally.

Many firsts happened. Six concurrent events including India-China Plastic Industry Summit, India-USA Plastic Industry Summit, Global Heads Felicitation Dinner, Asian Recycling Conference and Global Contest, Plasticon Awards, Two-day International Conference and Gala Night Dinner, which all have attracted unprecedented response. I congratulate each and every Chairmen / Co-Chairmen / Members of respective committees.

The honorary spirit of Plastindia Foundation got unfurled and worked again and that too, with great success. Unlike in Plastindia, in Germany K fair is organized by a professionally managed company, Chinaplas is managed by a private entrepreneur. In Plastindia, it is the small-medium-large entrepreneurs, who came together and offered their best services to the industry on honorary basis (from various backgrounds such as Raw Materials, Machinery & others) so that the show can become a grand success, which ultimately happened.

|
My congratulations to Shri Mahendrabhai, Shri Amarbhai, Shri Hasmukhbhai, who worked relentlessly together for the grand success of the show. They were the key pillars of the show, who were in knowledge of every problem that arose and kept working towards amicable solution to it.
|
|
My heartiest congratulations to the Managing Committee, which supported us through out the pre and during exhibition periods.
|
|
Fantastic response from Founder Members and Associate Members was spontaneous, which is evident in the magnificent result achieved.
|
|
My sincere thanks to NAB Chairman, Shri Nikhilbhai Meswani, whose valuable support forms one of major part of the success of the show.

Above all, Kudos to NEC Chairman, Shri Mahendrabhai Patel for taking new initiatives, amiable but tough & uncompromising stand with down-to-earth approach.

Lastly, sincere thanks to 1518 exhibitors, who all contributed to this phenomenal success and put PLASTINDIA 2009 on top as global plastic show.

Dear Friends,
Plastindia 2009 are the letters that will be written in the annals of Indian Plastics Industry, in Plastic adorned with Gold leaf. Both are precious for the value to human kind – One for its economic value and another for its wealth creating value. We, the entire Indian Plastics Industry fraternity – PlastIndia Foundation (PIF), National Executive Committee of PlastIndia 2009 Exhibition (NEC), National Advisory Board of PlastIndia 2009 (NAB), the founder members of PIF, local plastics industry associations, plastics raw materials producers, plastics machinery manufactures, plastics processors and all those concerned with the plastics industry of India, even the fair contractors and service agencies – worked hard together successfully to decisively dispel the gloom of slow-down and to shatter the bugbear of depression from the lexicon of Indian plastics industry.

We, the Indian Plastics Industry, collectively demonstrated to the world that our motto for PlastIndia 2009, “ Future is Here”, was a statement of confidence in ourselves – it was not an empty boast. Plastindia 2009 was the hereto before unmatched showcase of the Indian plastics industry. The depth, the breadth and the range of Indian Plastics Industry on display at PI ’09 was truly breathtaking. We have successfully exhibited the little known but unparalleled strength of the Indian Plastics Industry to world.

What would you call an exhibition covering more than 77,000 square meters, of all possible covered or coverable space at Pragati Maidan, 1514 exhibitors of which 475 were from overseas, representing more than 30 countries? How you rate the exhibition with more than 130,000 visitors in 6 days? How do you grade the exhibition where more than INR 10,000 million of business was actually booked? When did anyone see an exhibition where such a varied variety of technologies and wide range of processes were on live display? Which exhibition has so many concurrent high quality technology conferences with international speakers and standing room only attendance? Which exhibition organizers can enthrall 2,000 plus people with a Gala Nite on a Bollywood extravaganza scale, at a Five Star Deluxe venue? Plastindia 2009 was the largest ever such event in India, where the best of exhibit display techniques, stall constructions and finest aesthetics were to be seen. List of unique happenings at Plastindia 2009 would be so long as to be boring!

Each exhibitor tried hard to do better than before and to outshine the competition, domestic or foreign. Each member of NEC or PIF team strived equally hard to be responsive and helpful as was humanely possible. I am happy to confirm, my friend, that you succeeded beyond expectations, in whatever endeavours that you were expected to.

|
As Chairman of National Executive Council for Plastindia 2009, and on behalf of Plastindia Foundation President, Shri Arvindbhai Mehta, I salute you for your support, your dedication, your confidence, your willingness and your hard work that has made this historic achievement possible. By any yardstick, it is you my friend that made Plastindia 2009 a shining beacon of Indian Plastics Industry’s arrival on global stage. Plastindia 2009 has set a benchmark that will be hard to match. Thanks to you, my friend.

I wish to share with you my special thanks and gratitude to my Plastindia 2009 NEC team. I will be failing in my duty if I did not acknowledge the guidance from PIF office bearers. I must also appreciate and acknowledge PIF office staff for their unquestioning support and their hard work during the show. Together, we all made a Team Par Excellence!
